Would You Like to Become a Stephen Minister?
To
qualify to become a Stephen Minister, you need to be a caring believer in Jesus
Christ who is willing to learn, grow and serve. You must be willing and
able to maintain confidentiality. You will make a commitment to an
initial 50 hours of training, ministry and supervision. Your Stephen
Leaders will equip you with the rest of what you need: training, support,
encouragement, care and prayers. They will help you become comfortable
with your role as a Stephen Minister.

What
is a Stephen Minister’s Commitment?
- 50 hours of training
- Faithful attendance at continuing education and supervision group
meetings twice a month during the ‘school year’
- Meeting with your care
receiver approximately one hour per week, during your assignment to walk
alongside him/her through their crisis
- A minimum two year commitment
of service to PLCC Stephen Ministry
What is the Typical Spiritual Gift
Profile of a Stephen Minister?
- Faith, defined as an unshakable trust
and a deep conviction that God faithfully and reliably keeps promises.
- Mercy, an exceptional ability to perform acts of kindness and
compassion.
- Encouragement, which includes the ability to inspire,
comfort, motivate, strengthen, affirm, and be present with others so that
they can meet life’s challenges with confidence.
- Wisdom, having a
deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and sharing the insights
gained from it with others.
- Service
Very few Stephen Ministers
have all of these gifts. If you have even one or two of them, we can train
you to be an effective Stephen Minister. If you are not sure of your
spiritual gifts but are feeling a call to this ministry, investigate
