Visiting Us For The First Time
We realize that attending a new church can sometimes be a little intimidating.
This page offers answers to frequently asked questions from people joining us
for the first time.
What should I wear?
First, let us be clear: we'd love to have you join us, whatever you're wearing.
However, we realize that many people can be uncomfortable if their dress makes
them stand out in a strange crowd. So, in the spirit of making you as
comfortable as possible when you join us, here's our advice: we tend to be a
casual church, so casual business attire will fit right in. Suits and ties
are rare, but acceptable, as are jeans and T-shirts.
When should I get there?
Choose which service you'd like to attend from here.
You'll want to arrive about 5-10 minutes early in order to find a place to park.
We try to save some parking spots in front for first-time visitors. If you
have kids, allow another 5-10 extra minutes to get them settled in their classes.
What should I do with my kids?
Quality childcare and children's classes are provided during the worship
services, as described here. Before the
service starts, take your kids down the stairs. You'll see the Children's
Ministry Information Counter at the bottom of the stairs. It is staffed to
help direct you to the right classrooms, and can answer any other questions you
might have.
How much should I give
at the offering?
You are our guest. We believe that the church should be supported by its
regular attendees. As our guest, you should not feel obligated to make any
donation at all. If you later decide to make PLCC your church home, then
you can commit to supporting our ministries.
What if no one talks to me?
We are a rapidly growing church. If that person next to you is giving you
funny looks, most likely this is their first time visiting too, and they're
wondering why you don't talk to them. See the comments under Will
I have to do Anything embarrassing?.
Will I have to do
anything embarrassing?
We don't do anything special to identify newcomers within the congregation.
Typically during the service, everyone will be invited to turn and introduce
themselves to the people around you. That's a good time to mention that
you are visiting; regular attendees will identify themselves and will be glad to
answer questions or show you around after the service.
Also, Pastor Chris will typically invite any newcomers to come up after the
service and meet him.
How can I get more involved?
The best place to start is with Connection Ministries.
